Braddock wins M.O.M. Season Opener
MAHONING VALLEY, PA Brian Braddock of Ringoes, NJ started off his season with a perfect day at Mahoning Valley Speedway. Starting on the pole in his heat race Braddock led from start to finish, earning him a front row starting position along side his teammate Jim VanDine who had also won his heat race. Braddock led the Modified Outlaw Micro Stock field to the green flag for the first feature race of the 2007 M.O.M. season, and went on to lead every lap to claim the victory in the Carl Scheier owned #82 Total Clean entry. At the start of the race VanDine tucked in behind Braddock and the two Total Clean teammates immediately began to separate themselves from the rest of the field. Bill Kriegner Sr. slotted into 3rd with e arly pressure from Tom Ervin, but after 5 laps Kriegner began to pull away in pursuit of Braddock and VanDine. Ervin, meanwhile, had his hands full with rookie driver Richie Pierce, who powered a 3rd Total Clean entry around him to claim the 4th position in the final laps of the race. Ervin held on for 5th with Dennis Hiddemen and Billy Kriegner Jr. close behind. Andy Hiddemen and Nick Cottone experienced problems earlier in the day and were unable to start the feature event.
The next race scheduled for the Modified Outlaw Micro Stocks will be at Mahoning Valley Speedway on May 20. Gates open at 10AM, registration at 11AM, practice at 12PM, and racing begins at 1PM. There is no club fee to race with M.O.M., and all Modified Micro Stock drivers are welcome to compete.
